Children of Los Angeles families, who fled the “dangers”
of the city
for a new life in the suburbs, have created
an identity for themselves. This
impsiety finds its
roots in a post-tribal car culture. Because people’s
entire lives revolve around commuting, their automobiles
now reflect that culture
of created identity in endemic
automotive display behavior. Cars now become vehicles
of personal beliefs, values, belonging, and the self,
rather than pure aesthetic
and function.
